July 03 - Ephrata Breakfast Ride
The weather was absolutely fabulous and the turnout was great because of it. I tried a time format of running later this month and taking a different route and it worked. This in addition to finally taking a ride afterward.
Walt and newcomer Mark on his new Daytona met me and stepson Mike at the bank in Hamburg. We rode to the Turkey Hill at 501 and 322 where we met Ed, Rod and Jamie. From there, we conducted our "assault" on the American Legion.
The place was full but many had already started to leave (we got there around 10:30). After breakfast we took a short excursion through the lot. Met up with Mike and Missy from the Windber pack.. Found Stan and Lloyd in the crowd. Walt found Vito from the Philly pack and his wife Mary and brought them back to us (he's good at this!). Ran into Terry and his son Jason. Also caught up with Jim Howell who got up at 4:30AM and rode his Bonnie from Daytona Beach to Carlisle just yesterday to go on the upcoming RotLE Canada to Key West ride. A true Iron Butt kinda guy!
After all the "catching up", we (Mark, Jamie, Rod, Terry, Jason, Mike, Missy, Ed, myself and Mike) took off for the 2nd part of our day. We headed west on 322 and wound our way to Mt. Gretna (a quaint little village in Southern Lebanon County). While there we stopped at the Jigger Shop for a short ice cream break (naturally!). Afterward, we rode up 943 to 443 West to pick up 325 back East (going 'round the mountain). At the end of 325, we took the Gold Mine Rd back down to 443 where most of us went our ways.
Great time, great weather, great people!
Sorry that there is so few pix this month.
