April 17 - The Gathering of Nortons at Washington's Crossing
Walt
and I met at the Sheetz on Sunday and had a great ride down to Washington's
Crossing. Though it was a little chilly, the sun warmed up quickly.
We met up with Tony, Vito and Howard from the Manayunk Pack and had a great time
checking out allof the bikes. Some great looking Nortons were there. We also
noticed how many Hinckley Triumphs are showing up these days.
After staying at the gathering point for about 2 hours, Tony and Vito joined us
for a ride up along the Delaware to a pub above Easton. We were taken back by
the amount of flood damage along the river. We passed some scenes of devastation
and it surely must be hard for those affected twice in less than a year.
The ride to the pub was great even with the detours. We rode through New Hope
where I saw many parked bikes with tickets on them and we saw one Harley rider
being tested with a db meter. All I could think is "loud pipes piss off
people" and this is the result. I have no sympathy! It's just a shame that
the rest of us have to deal with it all.
The pub was full of mostly Harley riders. The waitresses were having a hard time
keeping up with the orders but we were enjoying the sunshine any way.
After the pub, Walt and I rode back west North of the ABE area on back roads,
avoiding the 22 and 78 slab. Vito and Tony "slabbed it" heading south.
The 1st major outing of the year was a good one.
